Beware of Rain if You Travel to Japan in June

June is the rainy season in Japan. It rains a lot during this period, and the humidity is high.
We are talking about a lot of rain during this period, so you don’t need to worry so much,
However, you will be able to enjoy your trip to Japan more if you know about the rainy season in advance.

In Japan, there is a period from June to July called the rainy season, when it rains a lot.
It is mainly in Honshu, Shikoku, and Kyushu.
Unlike squalls, which fall for a short period of time, the rainy season in Japan is sometimes like a daylong shower.

Well, it is not something to worry about unless you plan to do outdoor mountain climbing or something like that.
If you are planning to go sightseeing in a city like Tokyo, there are train stations all over the place, lots of cabs, and well-developed underground passageways in places like Shinjuku, where people often go,
I think there are a lot of places to go sightseeing.

If you get caught in the rain a short distance from a train station and don’t have an umbrella, look for a nearby convenience store.
Convenience stores in Japan sell not only food things and drinks, but also umbrellas: plastic umbrellas for about 500 yen, and some stores even sell folding umbrellas.
My personal recommendation is a folding umbrella from 7-Eleven, although I thought it was a little more expensive than 500 yen. (I think it was about 1,500 yen…) I use mine and it is sturdy and will last for a while.
I walk around with it in my bag that I always use even on sunny days.

Everyone who comes here on vacation is familiar with Tokyo’s tourist attractions, so they would probably spend their time at museums, aquariums, and movie theaters, for example, which can be enjoyed even on rainy days.
Perhaps historical buildings such as shrines and temples would also become more atmospheric and tasteful when wet in the rain. On rainy days, there are fewer people, so you may be able to take your time to visit them.

I look forward to the blooming of the hydrangea plant during this rainy season.
Do hydrangeas bloom in foreign countries?

There is a small shrine called Hakusan Shrine in a place called Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo. There are about 3,000 various hydrangeas planted here, and they bloom around the time of June.
A hydrangea festival is also held there. This year’s festival has already ended, but there is information about the festival on the Bunkyo-ku website.

So, it is the rainy season in Japan, which is not something to worry about so much, but check the weather forecast,
If you still have trouble without an umbrella because of the rain, you can find a Japanese convenience store “7-Eleven”, “Family Mart”, or “Lawson”!
