Eat Sukiya cheese beef bowl (gyudon) at home

This is Kimura in Tokyo! We have been talking a lot about cheese beef bowls on this web site.

I would like to send out more varied information, but I will introduce cheese gyudon again.

By having you read this blog this time,

I would be happy if this blog could convey how the tastes of popular restaurants in Japan are now available in frozen foods in supermarkets, and how Japanese people are enjoying the tastes of popular restaurants at home.

    In the past blogs,

・Gyudon: A Beef Bowl Recommended by Sukiya. Sukiya’s Cheese Gyudon and how to order it.
・How to eat Sukiya’s Cheese Gyudon.

I have been introducing this kind of thing for a while now. I thought I would not be introducing cheese beef bowls again for the time being, but the other day I saw this in a supermarket.

Can you make a cheese beef bowl in your kitchen at home?

Yes, it is a frozen food “Sukiya”!
It is a frozen beef bowl.

I wondered if I should introduce this, but my blog is a beef bowl.
Since it’s a special occasion, I topped it with cheese,

I think I will try “Sukiya’s Cheese Beef Bowl” at home!

First, let’s get the ingredients together.

So, we immediately consider the ingredients needed.
A large supermarket in Tokyo will have most of what you need.
What we need this time is ・・・・

    • 1. Froze beef bowl(gyudon)
    • 2. 3kinds of cheese
    • 3. Red ginger

    Here is the recipe.
The correct name for Sukiya’s cheese beef bowl is “とろーり 3種のチーズ牛丼”.

    とろ〜り = Meltingly

    3種の = Three types of

チーズ牛丼 = Cheese and beef bowl

Yes, we need three kinds of cheese.
Red Cheddar, Egmont, and Mozzarella, these three types are used.
The biggest question this time is, do you sell these three cheeses?
If it is difficult, we will consider substituting something suitable and compatible.

For example, I wandered around the food department thinking that I had no choice but to substitute cheese for bread, processed cheese, or snack cheese.

Then, I found an unbelievable product.
Who in the world would buy this product?

I was wondering “Who in the world would buy this product?

    This product consists of,

    Vintage Cheddar

    Mozzarella

    Gouda

    Red Cheddar

    25% each

There is no type of Egmont, but this is fine.It looks just like Sukiya.
I wish they would sell this mixed cheese in the frozen food section along with the beef bowl.
With this, we have broken through the biggest problem this time.

It took me about 3 minutes from finding a frozen beef bowl to finding this cheese. Since I started this blog, I have noticed the high potential of Japanese supermarkets. I am sure there are still more interesting discoveries to be made.

What remains is red ginger. Is red ginger often eaten by people overseas? Or is this a Japanese food? Those who are not familiar with it may be surprised. It is bright red pickled ginger. Red ginger is a supporting role of Japanese food, and it really appears in many situations.

Just a few I can think of right now.

It is a popular side dish for takoyaki, ramen, fried rice, okonomiyaki, and katsudon. Then there is the delicious red ginger tempura.

So you can easily get it at the store.
Now you have all the ingredients!

Now that we have the ingredients for the cheese beef bowl, let’s make it!

    Let’s cook!

    It’s easy.

Beef bowl is microwaved for 1 minute and 20 seconds.

    if possible
    Pour over hot rice,

Before it cools down, put cheese on top.

    It already smells like Sukiya!
Better to wait for the cheese to melt a little before putting the red ginger on top. (Fail)

Finally, sprinkle a small amount of “shichimi”, a red and slightly spicy spice you have at home, and you are done.

    It is finished!

Left: 4 kinds of cheese gyudon! Right: 3 kinds of cheese gyudon at the restaurant!

It tastes just like the restaurant. Cheese is very good in three or four varieties!
As for me Kimura, I am very satisfied!

However, one thing that bothers me is the “shichimi” (seven spices).
(It’s the red spice sprinkled at the end.)

This one feels somehow different from the one in the store…
But if I start thinking about it, it’ll never end…

    Let’s end it here!

Approximate money spent on a beef bowl at home

Frozen beef bowls are about ¥1,000 for 5 servings
Cheese, I forget. Maybe 3-400 yen? Maybe.
Red ginger is about 100 yen.
    This is the cost.

If this is your first trip to Japan, you should enjoy Shinjuku, Shibuya, sushi, ramen, and popular tourist spots. But if you are staying in Japan for a long time and want to enjoy it from a different perspective, it would be a new experience if you could look at the food in Japanese supermarkets and our daily meals!

Thank you for reading to the end.
