I have a memory of not being able to finish Nakamoto’s “Hokkyoku Ramen” (sorry to the store owner). Not only Nakamoto, but also the market of spicy ramen has become a fiercely competitive one. If you search for “hot ramen,” you will find many websites with various rankings and information.
Tom Yam Kung flavor of Cup Noodle

I think there has been a Tom Yum Kung flavor of Cup Noodle in the past, but this one has a package that looks like it is written in Thai, and it is also a new flavor. Even the NISSIN logo is in Thai.

When I looked at the lid, I finally found some Japanese words. This instant ramen was manufactured in a factory in Thailand, and the reason all the cups were in Thai was because the local design was used as is. It seems that the products sold locally were imported to Japan.

If I had to choose whether I am a strong or weak spicy person, I would say I am a weak person. My first bite of this dish made me wonder, “Will I be able to finish it? I was worried that I would not be able to finish it. It is difficult to describe the spiciness in words, but if I were to use an analogy, Nakamoto has a very spicy miso flavor with a composition of 5 spiciness and 5 umami from the miso, a balance that makes it spicy but tasty. This Tom Yam Kung has a composition of 7 spiciness and 3 sourness of Tom Yam Kung. The ratio of spiciness is large. When Japanese people travel to Thailand, they say that the local food is spicy, but as I think back on it now as I write this blog, I wonder if this is the difference in taste.
