Useful Goods from 100 Yen Shops in Japan! Save space with compression bags!

This is Kimura on a major holiday weekend. The weather is bad this week, even though it’s a vacation weekend. I wanted to go touring somewhere on my motorcycle, but it keeps raining. And it’s a little cold. In such a case, I’m going to deal with the work in the house as much as possible. In my recent blog entry, I talked about cleaning up the kotatsu, but in fact the futon used for the kotatsu was on its way.

I will put away the futon for the kotatsu.

Here is the futon used for the kotatsu. It covers the table, so it is large anyway. First, it needs to be washed, but since it does not fit in the washing machine, it is washed by hand. Next, it is dried, but it does not dry in one day, so we aim for a good weather timing. The picture above shows how it looks now that it has dried properly. It may be hard to tell the size in the photo.

I added one more image. I put the FamilyMart T-shirt that I introduced in my blog the day before yesterday. Can you tell how big it is?

Please also see the FamilyMart T-shirt blog!

I would like to store this in the closet, but it really takes up a lot of space. It is a fluffy material, so it will inevitably bulge out.

Even when folded, it looks like this. That’s where this handy tool comes in.

Compression bag from 100 yen store

Futon compression bags. Do you have these in your country? These bags are used to compactly store futons, blankets, etc., which take up a lot of space. The bag has a zipper at the mouth to prevent air leakage, and the air inside is sucked out with a vacuum cleaner after the futon is stored.

The mouth of the bag has a double zipper. The bag is solidly made.

It looks like this when you put a futon in it.

Before closing the bag, vacuum out the air from the gap! After removing the air, close the bag quickly.

Then it becomes like a vacuum pack, about 1/3 full!

There was another type, which I bought. This one has a valve for vacuuming.

When air is sucked in from here,

The air is released immediately! This one is easier to use! This is the carpet under the kotatsu. I will put it away until next winter.

Make your life a little more comfortable with useful goods from the 100 yen store!

All of the bags introduced here are 100 yen at a 100 yen store. I won’t go into details because I think 100 yen stores are well-known to travelers in Japan, but I will continue to introduce any items that I use and find useful in my daily life.

Thank you for watching until the end.
