Repairing a Nintendoswitch controller!
Hello, this is Kimura in Tokyo. It’s been a while since I tried to play with my Nintendo-Switch, but the stick of the joystick was broken. It moves up and down, left and right by itself even though I don’t touch the controller. This is called drifting in Japan, and it seems to be a relatively common symptom. It seems that Nintendo can repair it, but this time I will try to repair it by myself. If you are reading this blog, please contact the manufacturer properly!
Is the Nintendoswitch controller fragile?

I found a lot of information about repair on the internet. Is the stick part inevitably fragile? When I get absorbed in a game, I put a lot of pressure on my hand and there is no way around it.
Come to think of it, game console breakdowns have been around for a long time. The one I remember the most is the poor contact of the AC adapter of the NES. It reminded me of the days when I was absorbed in playing games.
It seems that the manufacturer can repair the joystick on the Switch, but this time I will buy the part and replace it. There are many videos on You Tube and it seems to be an easy repair. Let’s give it a try!
Joystick repair kits are sold

Is this an official Nintendo product? I’m not sure but I bought it from a vendor who has sold many. I don’t need this many things.
What you need in this kit is a Y-shaped screwdriver and replacement parts.

Now let’s try to replace them!
Do you like to disassemble machines?
I am an exciting person. Let’s disassemble it.

The controller on the left side is in bad condition. Remove the screws on the back side.

When you open the controller, you will see the battery. Remove this battery.
It is held in place with double-sided tape, so I applied a little force and it came off.

When the battery is taken out, the screw is hidden on the back side .
Remove the three screws and the cover will come off.

If you remove the cover, you can see the joystick parts.
Replace the parts in the yellow square with new ones.

It is a very small part, but turn up the gray plate here.
Then the terminal that is connected will be disconnected.

Next, turn up the black plate. Then the terminals are disconnected.

Then, I removed the yellow circle screw and replaced it with a new part.

This is a photo of the new part and the replaced part.
After replacing the parts, put them back together in the reverse order.
Now, does it work properly?
Before playing the game, I checked the correction of the Nintendoswitch stick. The mark is in the center and it is not moving, so it seems to be ok!

Now I can enjoy playing games again…maybe I’ll play Mario Kart on my 64.
