FamilyMart Wear Series: This Time, Buy sweatpants from Families.
Hello, this is Kimura. The temperature in Tokyo has started to drop as low as 1°C. While it’s quite cold, we’ve had a string of clear, sunny days, which feels refreshing.
In a recent blog post, I introduced the tights from FamilyMart. Right next to them, I noticed they were also selling sweatpants, which piqued my interest. As the temperature continued to drop, I found myself wanting warmer clothes to wear at home, so I decided to give them a try.
How Do FamilyMart’s Sweatpants Measure Up?

At FamilyMart, these sweatpants are packaged in a clear, compact pack. They’re surprisingly small. I purchased a size L.

On the back of the package, there’s a drawing that illustrates the silhouette. Here are the size details

Hmm, the fabric has a coarse feel to it. Considering the low price, I suppose this was to be expected. The waistband is adjustable with a drawstring, but the metal eyelets for the string feel a bit underwhelming. Perhaps they’re trying to cut costs.
If you take a closer look at the end of the drawstring, you’ll notice a small print that represents the FamilyMart colors. It’s a subtle but interesting detail.

When I tried them on, I found that the legs widen towards the hem, and the overall shape wasn’t quite to my liking. I’m thinking an M size might have suited me better than the L. I hoped the pants would shrink a little after washing and putting them in the dryer, but they didn’t. I would have preferred a straighter silhouette.

Impressions of FamilyMart’s Sweatpants
For 2,990 yen (including tax), it’s hard to complain. The fabric has a coarse feel, which some people might actually appreciate. According to FamilyMart’s website, they’re made with heavyweight USA cotton. That might explain why they didn’t shrink even after going through the dryer.
I’m wondering if I might have chosen the wrong size. The shape isn’t quite what I was hoping for, but the fabric is thick and warm, making them a good option for indoor wear. There’s also a pocket on the back, which can hold a smartphone without the pants sagging down. For under 3,000 yen, I’d say it’s a fair deal.
Incidentally, I just checked and noticed that new color variations have been added. I’m curious to see what the other colors look like!
