Okinawa’s famous dish “Soki Soba” is easily available in frozen food!
It means “I’ll manage” in Ryukyuan dialect of “Nankuru naisa”.
I always think it is similar to “Mai Pen Rai ( ไม่เป็นไร )” in Thailand.
Located more than 1,500 km away from Tokyo, Okinawa is a popular tourist spot where you can enjoy different cultures even in the same Japan.
It is also popular among Japanese people, and many people must be pleased when they travel to Okinawa on business lol.
When you visit Japan on vacation, you might want to visit Tokyo, tour Kyoto, and maybe even Okinawa.
However, that is a difficult schedule unless you stay for a long time.
Today, I would like to recommend a good idea for those who are interested in visiting Okinawa, but it is a bit far away,
I would like to introduce a frozen food, Soki Soba.
All you need is a microwave oven and hot water to make it, so if you have a chance, please give it a try!

What is Soki Soba?
If you have never been to Okinawa, this may be the first time you have heard of it, but it is a typical Okinawan noodle dish.
Soki is an Okinawan word meaning pork spare ribs. (*Soki Soba is made with pork.)
Soki is made by stewing the meat in a sweet seasoning until tender.
The soup is based on pork and bonito and has a unique flavor.
When you hear the word “pork,” ramen fans may think of tonkotsu ramen,
Soki Soba is more like “tonkotsu ramen,” thanks to the bonito broth,
It is more “refreshing” than tonkotsu (pork bone) ramen. It is more “light” than tonkotsu ramen, perhaps due to the bonito stock.
Let’s try making Soki Soba from frozen food!
Let’s try making this frozen food.
It is a frozen food of “NISSIN” which is well-known for “Cup Noodle”.
The package says
Okinawa-style Soki Soba
Seared Cartilage Soki with Ingredients
Kamaboko (fish cake), green onion, red ginger (optional)
Combined bonito and buta broth
The package is written in Japanese.

Upon opening the package.

It contains ingredients, liquid soup, and red ginger.
Warm the ingredients in the microwave and make the soup with hot water to complete the dish. It is easy.

When warming up the ingredients in the microwave, the bag says in Japanese.
Please put this side up. Please warm up the whole bag!
500W about 4 minutes and 30 seconds
600W about 4 minutes
Next is the soup!

Nothing special.
Put this soup in a bowl with 300 ml of boiling water.

The soup is based on pork and bonito.
It is lighter in color than tonkotsu (pork bone) soup.
From here, it is ready at once.

It is finished.
It contains noodles, soki (pork), kamaboko (fish cake), and green onions.
Oh, I forgot, red ginger.

Red ginger appears in various places in Japanese cuisine.
It also plays an active role in this noodle dish.
Back to the story…
Soki soba is topped with red ginger!

Let’s try it!!
Let’s start with the Soki.

The soki is so soft that you can break it up with chopsticks. The surface is slightly seared as shown on the package! The bones are also soft and not hard to eat.

Another ingredient, kamaboko.
Kamaboko is a kneaded fish food.
I personally like the taste and can drink the soup all the way through lol!
Frozen Soki Soba Summary
I introduced Nissin’s Soki Soba, which can be easily prepared with a microwave and hot water at your place of stay.
At this point, I was able to get it at the frozen food section of the supermarket.
The price is about 300 yen, as I recall.
And yet it is easy and delicious. I sometimes want to eat it too.
I would be happy if this blog could draw your attention to frozen foods in Japan.
I would be happy if you would pay attention to foods in supermarkets that are not talked about.
Thank you for reading to the end.
